- Please Bring Fly Tying Tools, a Portable Lamp, and the following Thread (70D black and tan at a minimum, gray and/or yellow will be useful if you have it, this thread must be “flattenable” such as UTC or Danville)
- Also please bring a dubbing loop tool and a Petijean Magic Tool, Bulldog Clip, Chip Clip (or equivalent)
In the workshop Al will be sharing how to tie patterns using alternative hackle styles (not standard collared hackle flies). He will be sharing a parachute hackle, a Marinaro style (original) thorax hackle, a Paraloop (or hackle stacker) and a spinner utilizing hackle wings. This class will show you how to take your dry flies beyond vanilla increasing your tying abilities and allowing you to tackle some of the more difficult patterns you have been wanting to try.
Alan “Al” Ritt hails from Northern Front Range of Colorado. In 2022 he received the highest honor a fly tyer can receive, the Fly Fishers International Buz Buszek Memorial Fly Tying Award. He is currently a pro team member for Diiachi Hooks, and a brand ambassador for Dyna-King Vices. Al has been published in various magazines, he also published a book, “25 Best Most Versatile Flies” (Stonefly Press).
